Kaikōura Croquet Club
A local treasure for over 100 years, the Kaikōura Croquet Club has proudly occupied its picturesque spot on the Takahānga Domain for more than a century. With beautifully maintained grounds and a clubhouse, the club is a welcoming and social space for players of all ages and experience levels.
Croquet is more than just a lawn game. It’s a strategic, mentally stimulating sport that keeps you thinking and moving. As long-time club members say: “No two games are ever the same!” Whether you’re new to the game or have been playing for years, you’re guaranteed a warm welcome. There are 3 versions of croquet played here so you have choices.
The club currently has 18 members and is always keen to grow. Games are played on Wednesdays at 10:45am and Saturdays at 12:45pm, with the season typically running from September to May, and sometimes stretching into June.
If you’re curious, pop down for a game, enjoy a cuppa, and connect with a friendly and passionate community. No experience or equipment needed, just bring yourself and give it a go!

Kaikōura Aquatic Centre
Kaikōura Aquatic Centre serves as the ideal destination for family fun and fitness. This community-run facility features a 25m pool perfect for lap swimming, a dedicated learn to swim pool, and a toddler area with a play pad, ensuring enjoyment for all ages. All pools are heated for comfort. The centre offers Aquafit and Aquacise classes for those seeking fun, low impact workouts. Visitors can relax in shaded outdoor seating or at covered picnic tables. Private bookings are welcomed for birthday parties or visiting swim clubs, with ample parking and friendly staff creating a warm atmosphere. The centre operates from November to March.

Kaikōura Squash Club
The Kaikōura Squash Club is a vibrant and welcoming place for squash lovers of all ages and abilities. With around 110 active members, including a strong junior programme. The club offers a fun, friendly atmosphere where both social and competitive players can thrive.
The club runs weekly events including a Wednesday Members League (5:00–8:30pm), Social Squash on Fridays (4:00–6:00pm), and junior coaching on Mondays. Regular tournaments, such as the Kaikōura Open and the much loved Kaikōura Masters, bring players from across the region, known as much for their competitive edge and community spirit.
Facilities include three glass-backed courts, changing rooms, showers, and a licensed bar and kitchen area, making it the perfect place to play, connect, and unwind. There’s also plenty of parking on Killarney Street.
Memberships are flexible and affordable, with options for individuals, couples, families, juniors, and social members.

Takahanga Bowling Club
Home to one of the country’s finest all-weather artificial greens, the Takahānga Bowling Club has been a cornerstone of Kaikōura’s sporting community for over a century. Whether you’re a seasoned player or trying lawn bowls for the very first time, this friendly club offers a warm welcome and a top-notch facility in the heart of the Takahānga Domain.
Weekly club days are held on Wednesdays at 1:30pm and Saturday afternoons, with Twilight Bowls and Barefoot Bowls sessions throughout the season, perfect for relaxed social games or introducing new players to the sport. Bowls and the green are available for hire, and the club’s bar facilities and ample street parking make it easy to stay and socialise.
More than just a club, Takahānga Bowling Club is a resilient community. Having stood strong through floods and earthquakes, it remains a vibrant space for connection, competition, and camaraderie.
New members are always welcome. Come along for a roll up and a good yarn.

Kaikōura Skate Park
Set against the stunning backdrop of Kaikōura’s coastline, the Kaikōura Skate Park is a vibrant community built space that welcomes riders of all ages and skill levels. Located opposite the Mainpower Multisport Courts, the park combines epic ocean views with well designed features for an unforgettable skate experience.
The park includes a large concrete bowl and a street section complete with rails, ledges, banks, and other obstacles, offering something for everyone, from absolute beginners to seasoned skaters. It’s a popular spot for local youth and visiting riders alike, providing a fun, free, and safe environment to skate, connect, and enjoy the outdoors.
